The City Clerk is responsible for maintaining all permanent and official city records and reports directly to the City Council. The City Clerk compiles and prepares the information and documentation to present to the Council for its consideration on matters pertaining to the city; is responsible for all public notices and posting of council meeting agendas; records and produces minutes of all City Council meetings; processes and maintains official City documents and records; provides information regarding City records to the public; and oversees city elections.

City Council Meetings, Agendas & Minutes:

The City Council holds regular meetings on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m., and work sessions are held the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m.

Notice of all regular and special meetings and work sessions are posted on the bulletin board at City Hall (827 North Main Street), the window of the Council Chambers Building (826 North Main Street), and the Cottonwood Library bulletin board (100 South 6th Street). Notices can be found here.

Summary minutes of Council meetings are posted within 72 hours following the meeting on the city's web site and can be found here.

Official minutes are posted within 48 hours following their approval by the Council on the city's web site and can be found here.


The City Clerk is your local elections official and is responsible for conducting all local municipal elections. Regular city elections are held every two years on even-numbered years, with the next election scheduled to occur in 2016.

Records Management:

As custodian of the City's records, the City Clerk's office oversees storage, retrieval, and destruction of city records, and responds to public records requests. Click here for a Request for Public Records form.

Municipal Code:

The City Clerk is responsible for maintaining the city's Municipal Code. The Municipal Code is a compilation of the general ordinances (“laws”) of the city. The most current edition of the Municipal Code is accessible to the public through the city's website and can be found here.
